While double-checking the route from Hollywood Hills to the pier in Santa Monica by way of Mulholland Drive for a part of my book, I got homesick again.  I miss the hustle and bustle of southern California very much.  Even though I’m from the San Francisco Bay Area, SoCal feels more like home.  I didn’t set out to have my book start in SoCal.  Originally it was going to start in Portland, Oregon, with the characters at Reed College.  Thank goodness I finally read Twilight.  Portland is mentioned many times, and the series is primarily set in the Pacific Northwest.  I don’t think there needs to be two stories with vampires and werewolves set in the same area.  So I moved it down to the Los Angeles area and to UCLA.  Now I’m thinking a lot about Santa Monica and am feeling wistful tonight.
